"Must See" Movies with a message
15/January/2009 12:01 PM Filed in: Faith and God

I have now watched all 3 of Sherwood Picture’s movies and I must say that I’m very impressed. I actually watched them in the reverse order they were made.
Flywheel was released in 2003 on a small budget. I just rented the new directors cut from Blockbuster and will definitely be buying it, along with Fireproof when it comes out in a few weeks. I already picked up 3 copies of Facing the Giants I found at a pawn shop for $5 each.
Facing the Giants was a huge hit for Sherwood Pictures, a ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church. Their 3rd picture was called Fireproof, staring Kirk Cameron and was in theatres September of 2008 and is about to be released on DVD.
The next time you go to rent a movie, rent any one of these three and you won’t be disappointed. You’ll laugh and you’ll cry. If you don’t cry you aren’t human. Or at least not a Cates.

Understanding the situation in Israel & Gaza

Smoke rose from the United Nations headquarters after it was hit during Israeli bombardment of Gaza City on Thursday.
As the war in Israel and Gaza continues, I was looking for articles to help me better understand the situation. It led me to this site which has many helpful articles, news pieces and op ed commentaries.
Every Hamas rocket attack against Israeli civilians - and there have been more than 6,500 of them since Israel ended its occupation of Gaza - is an armed attack against Israel under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, which authorizes member nations to respond militarily to armed attacks against it.
I can’t help but think that Israel always gets the short end of the stick in the world media.
What if Israel defended its citizens the way the British, the French, the Americans and the Russians did? When German rockets hit British cities during the World War II, Prime Minister Winston Churchill retaliated by bombing German cities, killing thousands of German civilians, and promised to continue until Germany's unconditional surrender. The United States did the same following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The French did much worse in Algeria and the Russians showed no concern for civilian life in Chechnya or Georgia.
The IDF, on the other hand, has gone to extraordinary lengths to minimize civilian casualties, despite the reality that Hamas deliberately fires its rockets from densely populated civilian areas and hides its rocket launchers in schools, hospitals and mosques.
