Q: What are your stage & tech requirements?

A. The Comedy in Motion show is very flexible and we can work with you to make the show happen successfully. For some general guidelines, a minimum ceiling height of 7.5 feet (yes, that low) is needed. (Higher is better) The minimum stage area needed is 10 feet by 20 feet (more is better). Bob and Jane carry their own headsets and transmitter/receivers. If driving to the show, Comedy in Motion can provide lighting, sound and even video. For a more detailed descriptor, see here.

Q: Is Comedy in Motion ONLY for adult, after-dinner corporate shows?

A: No, Bob Cates is a very flexible performer. He performs many family shows each year. His show is appropriate for anyone looking for clean, professional comedy entertainment.

Q: What is the cost?

A: The show fee is affected by several factors, such as type of show, audience size, geographical location, venue, etc. Travel costs such as mileage, airfare, cargo shipping, accommodation and meals are extra. For a customized price quote, go to this page.

Q: How many objects can you juggle?

A: Bob’s personal record is 8 balls.

Q: Do you spin REAL plates?

A: Yes. If you're a Baby Boomer, you may have fond memories of watching the Ed Sullivan Show on Sunday nights. Over the years Ed had a number of plate spinners on the show. One of the originals was the late Jaq Schmidt, from Toronto. Bob Cates now owns the original equipment used by Jaq, and performs the routine with the same loveable slapstick, but with a fresh, frantic pace. The plates are real and Bob smashed over 600 plates just learning how to do it! Audiences are literally on the edge of their seats as Bob makes his way up to 21 plates and beyond.

Q: Do you give Juggling Workshops?

A: Yes. Learning to juggle has many benefits. Increasing one's hand-eye coordination, concentration, and patience are a few examples. Other benefits include learning the importance of practice and persistence, and finding out that learning can be fun! Bob can give a 45-minute juggling workshop after the show for a small additional fee. Equipment can be supplied by Bob when driving to the event. Workshops can be for any people above the age of seven, and for groups of up to 50 people at a time.

Q: Show me how to juggle. I want to learn how to do 3 balls.
