I first saw Bob Cates at a large “corporate Christmas” event, in Red Deer, Alberta, where I was a guest. There were over 1500 people in that arena-type room and for a whole hour, Bob had them totally transfixed.

I was so amazed with Bob’s show that I booked him for a major event for one of my most important clients (Syncrude Canada). So impressed were they with Bob’s performance that they immediately called and arranged to have him back again the following year. I have been working with this client for over 15 years and that was the first time that they repeated a performer a year later.

I have since booked Bob for other highly successful engagements and I have told him that I wished he lived in Alberta so that I could book him all of the time!

His professional attitude, quick wit and amazing showmanship and skill combine to make him the ideal entertainer.

In the fall of 2008 I brought Bob Cates in to perform at a corporate fundraiser/Golf tournament that I was planning based on a recommendation from someone who had seen his show.  As an event planner, it can be difficult to find a professional quality, entertaining show that will appeal to a wide variety of people, but Bob’s show really exceeded my expectations.

Bob put on a show for a group of golfers who had been on the links all day and then had enjoyed a big meal and he was able to completely captivate them with his skills and with his interactive comedy.  

Bob has a great stage presence, and interacts with the audience in a very effective way.  The show itself is fast moving and permeated by witty humor and amazing skill.  Bob is more than “just a juggler”.  He is a professional entertainer who physical skills and sheer talent are a perfect compliment to his witty on-stage banter.  

Practically speaking, Bob is very organized in his dealings and carries out his end of the contract faithfully.  Bob was prepared, courteous and on-time, and it was a pleasure working with him.

I have been producing shows of all varieties for many years now and in all different venues. I grew up in the Circus business and therefore over the years have seen thousands of performers, I therefore consider myself to be an excellent judge of talent. Bob is equally thrilling to adult audiences as well as family audiences and can easily adapt to any venue or situation you have in mind. In short, I highly recommend Bob Cates as an entertainer in any circumstance.

Bob Cates is an audience sensitive performer who reads the audience and plays them to the hilt.

This last December, I was empowered to write and direct a variety show for a large oil investment company. I entitled the show “A Starry Night” and set out to find entertainers that were just that… stars. I wanted a classic Sullivan feel with a modern twist to entertain 400 or so guests at the beautiful Banff Springs Hotel.

I chose Bob Cates to be the closing act for the show, and it was an excellent decision. Bob had the audience laughing and amazed throughout his routine. I can think of no better way that I would have closed the show.

I was also very impressed by Bob’s professionalism and how easy he was to work with. Whenever a show is constructed of multiple artists, there can be conflicts. This was not the case with Bob. He was a pleasure to work with and a joy to watch.
